<outline text="I'm sure you have seen the 37 ads/day on TV and radio asking people to talk to their doctor about tamiflu when they have the flu. It's true that tamiflu can help. It helps by shortening the length of symptomatic illness by approximately 1 day, when compared to placebo. In other words, don't take tamiflu, you stay sick for 7-10 days. Take Tamiflu and stay sick for 6-9 days. All for the small price of around $88/course in my neck of the woods. Importantly, the company that pushes Tamiflu doesn't actually have any data that Tamiflu SAVES LIVES or prevents complications like pneumonia!"/>

<outline text="And Tamiflu has significant side effects. After practicing medicine for 19 years, taking the flu shot like the good slave that I am, I got Flu type A this fall. I felt like death on a stick that had been a pile of dog poop, then dropped into a vat of hairballs. Fever over 101, cough, horrendous body aches, headaches. The tamiflu gave me diarrhea, nervousness like I'd drunk 3 pots of coffee in 15 minutes, and hyper alert (I startle at the drop of a hat in the room…across the street!) By day 8 I felt good again."/>

<outline text="Well, lucky me, Friday I came down with Flu B, which is admittedly a milder form. I forgo the tamiflu this time. Still with temp to 101 for first 3 days, but much milder body aches and headache. No diarrhea, nervousness or hypersensitivity. And today, day 5, I feel much better."/>

<outline text="Now even though I've only been a listener for a couple of months, I get the feeling you're not a big believer in immunizations. But I personally plan on getting a flu shot next year. But if I get the flu again next season, even once, I'll never do it again!"/>
